Just imagine for a minute, being in your mother’s belly as a baby. The environment you are in is all you know. All your needs are met. You have no identity, no beliefs, experiences or opinions yet.One day, you are thrust into a new world and all of a sudden, the labelling starts – the imprinting of thousands of different belief systems begins immediately, and continues from the cradle to the grave.

This is usually from family, TV, school, friends, churches and these beliefs systems define us. They begin with labels which are stuck to us, these are our name, gender, skin colour, body shape, religion, intelligence, sports ability, sexual preferences, disabilities and many more, none which we have chosen ourselves.By the time we can speak we have been told so many things about ourselves that we have actually lost the true essence of who we are, and along with this loss, our Soul’s purpose slides away, and for some, is lost forever.

I remember being in my late teens when I had a realisation that a few things I had been brought up to believe by society, did not align with me at all, which then threw everything into disarray as, if those beliefs weren’t true… was anything? I likened it to being told Santa and the Easter Bunny weren’t real and the day you find out that’s actually not true … well, let’s just say it’s a bad day!

Like most people, I then started the long process throughout my 20’s and 30’s of trying to discover who I was and what my own beliefs were about things. Many times I got things wrong, however eventually I learned to trust my intuition and listen to my Soul, and with that, the shedding of all the labels began, and I had many. I believed I was not intelligent, was not attractive, was too tall, I had a chronic illness, I was diagnosed with ADHD and basically I became the accumulation of all these false beliefs and labels.

Interestingly, everyone around us adopts these beliefs on your behalf as well, which only compound the false beliefs further.Last year we spent 10 amazing days cruising the Med on a Dr Joe Dispenza retreat. It was amazing and Dr Joe advocates the need to shed all these false and outdated beliefs about yourself in order to grow as a Human Being. He does this by encouraging us to become no body, no where, no time and no name – we are spiritual beings having a human experience.

When we shed these beliefs we become expanded spiritual beings and increase not only our own consciousness, but everyone’s, as we are all connected. The freedom which comes with breaking free from the constraints of society, brings a deep sense of peace and complete acceptance of ourselves which cannot be swayed by the opinion of others – that is true freedom. Once we learn to accept and not judge ourselves, we then rewire our brains to be non judgmental of others too. Imagine walking into a room and accepting every single person there, warts and all! Just feeling unconditional love or each person and knowing that they are not the sum parts of their labels, and each has person is on their own journey which should be respected and honoured by all.

So how do you get to this stage, you simply become Nobody.

Work your way through each label and belief you hold about yourself and trace it back to its source. For example, I was told in primary 5 by a classmate “you are far too tall!’, I was embarrassed and upset and this stuck with me well into my 30’s. When I traced the belief back, I realised how silly my insecurity was and that it was only their opinion, which interestingly was based on the fact they were the smallest in the class. They had basically projected their own insecure belief onto me.So you see, following the belief back to source gives us a chance to shine a light on it as an adult – we get to decide if we still want to believe it or not. Nine out of ten times we don’t – we realise how it was just our younger self processing a situation and then, we set ourself free. This process can take a while, as some beliefs are so ingrained that they can be hard to shift. Our advise, bekind and gentle to yourself and enjoy the process. It is extremely empowering and each belief you shatter, you are rewiring the neurons in your brain, making new pathways and – a new you.

Where does this all take us?

It takes us to the point that the next time someone asks who you are, or, you are introduced to someone, you have the confidence to shine, knowing that inside you are a sovereign being with your own thoughts and emotions, and beliefs that are based on your own experiences – not societal projected perceptions. You have become the true essence of your Soul and Shine so brightly that it encourages others to do the same.
